Context

The Pyrenees Challenge is a motorcycle adventure that combines planning, strategy, and unforgettable sightseeing.

Each participant is free to design their own journey—tailored to their preferences, skill level, and pace. With countless route possibilities, no two adventures are the same.

The goal is to earn the highest score possible by visiting checkpoints scattered across the Pyrenees and strategically using various power-ups along the way.

Gameplay Mechanics

Event Dates and Tracking

The event will take place from June 26th to 28th, 2006. During this period, the organization will track participants’ progress by logging visits to checkpoints and the acquisition of power-ups.

We respect participants’ privacy and do not conduct constant location monitoring.

Responsibility and Insurance

Participants travel entirely at their own risk and must be covered by their own insurance. The organization does not provide any form of insurance coverage for participants or third parties during the event.

Enrollment and Liability

Enrollment is completely voluntary and signifies acceptance of the event rules, including the release of the organization from any liability arising from participation.

Competition and Conduct

The competitive aspect of the event is limited to strategy and endurance. All participants are required to strictly follow traffic laws at all times.

Any failure to comply—including speeding—will result in immediate exclusion from the event and removal from the rankings.

Route

Each participant is responsible for defining their own route, including choosing their starting point and destination. Participants must also verify the condition and safety of the roads they intend to use.

The organization assumes no responsibility for the status, accessibility, or safety of any roads.

Checkpoints

Every point on a road that is listed on the map provided by the organization is considered a checkpoint. Each checkpoint is scored only once, no matter how many times is visited.

Each checkpoint will award points to participants. Each checkpoint has a different score based on it’s altitude, nomenclature and characteristics. The list of checkpoints is freely available and may experience changes up to 15 days prior to the event.

Motorcycle and Equipment Requirements

Participants may use any motorcycle that is legally registered and complies with all road traffic regulations in the countries where the event takes place. Each participant must carry valid personal identification and current motorcycle documentation at all times.

The organization also requires participants to carry the following mandatory equipment:

  • Helmet meeting safety standards valid in Spain, France, and Andorra
  • Motorcycle jacket, pants, and gloves
  • Motorcycle-specific footwear
  • High-visibility vest required by law to be carried while riding in France

We strongly recommend bringing rain gear, as weather in the Pyrenees can change rapidly. Additionally, participants should carry basic tools for minor motorcycle repairs and a compact first aid kit for emergencies.

Official App and Tracking

The organization provides an official mobile app for tracking participants' progress during the event. All participants are required to download and use this app, which must have location permissions enabled to ensure accurate tracking.

During the event, participants can monitor their own status and position relative to others via the app or the event website. The app logs visits to checkpoints and power-ups, even when offline, and syncs data with the server and other participants once connectivity is restored.

Please note that the app uses the participant’s mobile data plan. Be aware that additional charges may apply when using the app in Andorra, depending on your mobile provider.

Any anomalies or discrepancies in tracking data may result in penalties or disqualification at the discretion of the organization.

Rest Period

Each participant is required to observe two rest periods of 10 consecutive hours, between 21:00 and 07:00, from Friday to Saturday and Saturday to Sunday. During these mandatory rest periods, the app will pause tracking. Participants are not required to resume their journey from the same location where the rest period began.

Meals, Fuel, and Accommodation

Participants are individually responsible for arranging and covering their own meals, fuel, and lodging throughout the event. The organization does not provide any food, fuel, or accommodation services.

Scoring and Penalties

Participants earn points by visiting checkpoints and collecting power-ups throughout the event. A participant’s total score is the sum of all points accumulated from checkpoints and power-ups.

To promote safe riding, the organization has implemented a system of virtual radars. These are placed in areas with increased safety concerns, such as populated zones, residential areas, and various types of roads. Failing to properly pass through one of these radar checkpoints will result in the following penalties:

  • First offense: –10,000 points
  • Second offense: –30,000 points
  • Third and subsequent offenses: –50,000 points each

The organization reserves the right to disqualify any participant who is found to be breaking the law, riding recklessly, or endangering others on the road.

In severe or repeated cases, the organization may impose a lifetime ban from all future events.

Withdrawals and Refunds

Participants who wish to withdraw from the event must notify the organization immediately, providing their full name and email address used during registration.

Refunds are available up to 14 days prior to the start of the event. All refunds will be issued to the same payment method used at the time of registration.

Registration

Registration for the Pyrenees Challenge will open on March 1st at 10:00 (CET) and will close on March 31st at 23:59 (CEST).

All participants must create a personal profile during registration. The organization is committed to protecting personal data and will not share any participant information with third parties.

Registrations submitted after the deadline or once the maximum number of participants has been reached will be placed on a waiting list. Acceptance from the waiting list will be done in strict chronological order if any registered participant cancels.

In the event of cancellation due to force majeure (e.g., extreme weather, government restrictions, or other unforeseen circumstances), registration fees will not be refunded.

Rules and Liability

The organization reserves the right to modify the rules at any time and for any reason. Any changes will be communicated to all registered participants in a timely manner.

By registering for the Pyrenees Challenge, participants agree to abide by all official rules and waive any liability claims against the organization for actions or incidents arising from their participation in the event.
